When we first stepped into this home, the space felt closed in and outdated, with dark yellow and orange paint tones dominating the walls and visually heavy finishes throughout the first floor. Our goal was to create a cohesive, bright, and modern look that would flow seamlessly from room to room while still feeling comfortable and timeless.
The transformation began with a complete tear-out of the existing flooring across the entire first floor. We installed a light, warm wood-look tile throughout the living room, bedroom, and bathrooms, creating a continuous and cohesive foundation for the space. This flooring choice brought in natural warmth while offering durability and low maintenance, and the uninterrupted flow instantly made the home feel larger and more open.
One of the most dramatic changes came from updating the paint throughout the home. The original outdated color palette was replaced with a fresh, modern combination that completely lifted the space. Sherwin-Williams Bright White was used below the chair rail and on all molding and trim, while Sherwin-Williams Alabaster was selected for the walls to provide a soft, warm contrast. Walls, ceilings, and chair rail were all freshly painted, highlighting the architectural details and enhancing the overall brightness of the home.
The result is a total glow-up that has changed the entire feel of the house. What was once dark and dated is now light, airy, and inviting, with finishes that feel timeless and intentional. This project is a perfect example of how the right flooring and paint selections, paired with expert craftsmanship, can completely transform a home without altering the layout.
